Because of high incidence of ship wrecks in the area of Gulf of St. Lawrence, pressure mounted for the Federal Government to install a system of telegraphs. A Select Committee of the House of Commons was established and arguments were received concerning the proposed system. This pamphlet consists of numerous submissions from officials and businessmen supporting this system. The map in the back of the booklet describes the recommendations of the Select Committee.
