This map is one of a series of maps concerned with telegraphic communications in the area of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. These maps were published from 1876 and document the evolution of the telegraph network in this area. Telegraph lines, telegraph stations, lighthouses, storm signal stations, and electrosignal stations are shown. Trans-Atlantic cables are shown with their names and dates. Fog guns and horns are located with information about the duration and frequency of the signal.
