This plan is one of three such works enclosed in a letter from Holland to Gage 2 July 1767. Forming part of Holland's Cape Breton and Nova Scotia survey, 1765 to 1768, this plan was ordered by Gage and made by George Sproule (Shipton, p. 84). The fortress of Louisbourg is shown. Two explanatory keys are given, one explaining the works of the fortification and the other dealing with the English works made from the time of the French surrender in June 1758. The original plan is in the William Clements Library, University of Michigan.
