During the Klondike gold rush Seattle Washington became one of the more famous jumping off places for miners heading north. A number of map companies sprang up, all intending to "cash in" on the hordes of gold-seekers. After the Klondike rush had passed there was a minor boom on the lower Yukon River in Alaska. This map shows Dawson City and Klondyke" Creek in large bold letters. The Yukon River is also boldly depicted. It is probable that the map was drawn as an aid to prospective miners who were heading for the Klondike or Alaskan gold fields. Thus the approximate date of 1900.
