Public Archives of Canada, Sixteenth Century Maps relating to Canada: a check-list and bibliography, (Ottawa, 1956), no. 528.; The copy of the Bible from which this map has been reproduced has at the beginning a printed leaf showing that it was presented by B. Arias Montanus, at the command of Philip II of Spain, to the Duke of Alba, in recognition of his services in the Netherlands. A copy of this Bible is in the British Museum (C.17. d, tom.13). America is similar to that of the Gastaldi 1546 and extends to the North Pole.
