Prowse contends that this map in point of time preceded the La Cosa map. While it is not at all possible that the fragmentary coastlines north of the Antilles are derived from a survey sketch previous to 1500, the representations of the coastline of South America seems to be not earlier than 1502. Finally, the shape of the Indian peninsula would suggest a still late date. E.L. Stevenson suggested that it might be counted a fairly good copy of Vespucci's 1508 Padron. More recently, Pohl insists that the map must be after 1502, and adopts 1508 as a likely date.
