The map shows the political divisions of Upper and Lower Canada as they existed circa 1836. Major centers are named and the principal transportation networks of road, river and canal are indicated. Toronto is called York; the name was changed in 1834. The map also has a "Diagram of a Township, shewing the Crown and Clergy Reserves".
