This map was produced shortly after the first major discovery of oil in Alberta at Turner Valley, southwest of Calgary. The map shows the area north of Calgary giving township numbers and showing located, discovery and operating wells. Ringing the circular map are the name of 104 oil companies with arrows emanating from some of them to areas in which they were operating. Most of the companies listed were formed for speculative purposes only and all but a few of them folded within a few months. The map was originally located among the William A. Pearce Collection of the Glenbow Alberta Foundation Calgary.
This map was donated to the National Map Collection by the Library of the Glenbow Alberta Foundation Calgary.
