"This map shows the general area in which the War of 1812 was fought. Colour is used to outline political divisions. Population statistics of the United States, British possessions and certain towns are given. The map probably appeared in either the 1813 or 1815 edition of Melish's: A Military and Topographical Atlas of the United States. A later edition of this map, with many changes, was published in 1816 with the title "Northern section of the United States including Canada... 1816"."
