The numbers of the burial plots with the owners' names appear on the reverse of this plan. The size of the plots and the length and width of the paths are indicated. A chapel 20 ft. wide and 30 ft. long and the main gates were located at the southern extremity of this cemetery. One of the first burial ground in Ottawa was located between Elgin, Metcalfe, Sparks and Albert Streets. About 1845 the burial grounds were moved to the Lower Town, Sandy Hill area. The Roman Catholic and Methodist cemeteries were located off Rideau Street between Charlotte and Cobourg Streets. This plan shows the Episcopalian burial ground used by Christchurch from 1845, located between Charlotte and Wurtemburg Streets. Located between these same streets was the burial ground used by the Presbyterian Church. These grounds were used until about 1872 when burial grounds were relocated to the Beechwood Cemetery site in the Rockliffe Park area.
