This map shows the eight locks rising from the Ottawa River beside Parliament Hill and the course of the canal throught what is now Centretown and the Glebe in Ottawa. The height of water above the Ottawa River is indicated. Also given is the height of land in the area, again measured from the level of the Ottawa River. By's Plan for the fortification of what is now Parliament Hill is detailed. This work, of course, was never begun. The signature of John Burrows appears on the compass needle. There is account sheet accompanying this plan.
