This is one of many maps based upon a 1759 map of the Siege of Quebec prepared by the Royal Engineers. Doughty used this map to illustrate his work The Siege of Quebec and the Battle of the Plains (6 vols., 1901-02). The map appears in volume I. The British works are coloured yellow and their encampments red. The French works and encampments are coloured blue. A text, which is also on the original map, describes the military positions of the opposing forces. A note under "References" explains that Captains Debbieg and Holland and Lieutenant Des Barres were each involved with a part of the survey for the map.
