In addition to the engineering features described below, this map shows railways, roads, buildings, rivers and streams, and an indication of topography. There is a side cross section showing the elevation of each lock. Complex engineering and surveying calculations and triangulations appear, along with details and dimensions of the locks and other parts of the canal. The second copy appears to be a linen tracing of the first. Much details has been omitted on the linen copy; specifically the detailed survey figures do not appear.
