In this state the coloured Boundary Line between Nova Scotia and New England is shifted further West from the Mouth of Pessemequddi or St. Croix River to Penobscot Bay whence it runs due north in a straight line till it joins the range of Mountains parallel with the St. Lawrence and thence runs as plain dotted line to the St. Lawrence River. The Province of Maine and the Territory of Sagadahok are in this state separated from the St. Lawrence by a wide strip of Territory the Southern Boundary of which is the range of Mountains extending from the head of Lake Champlain to the Pistole River. A coloured Boundary line follows this range on the Map. In this state the D of New England is East of the Boundary Line, whereas in the first state the D was west. This state shows distinct traces of the erasure of the boundary line between N.E. and N.S. along the St. Croix and Northward.
