While the LPC Leadership Convention took place on 14 November 2003, it had previously been uncertain if Prime Minister Jean Chretien was going to step down as Prime Minister of Canada and Leader of the LPC leading up to the 2000 Federal Election. As a result, there is an overlap of material and of inclusive dates in the files dealing with the 2000 Election Campaign and the 2003 Leadership Campaign. Researchers interested in one particular campaign should consult both sub-series.

Researchers can consult various versions of the paulmartintimes.ca Web site, harvested throughout 2002 and 2003, on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine site (http://archive.org/web/web.php).

The "paulmartintimes.ca" Web site was built on a MySQL database. The content of the database was converted in MS Access format (ACCDB file) by LAC IT staff, and the archivist created a form to facilitate the consultation of the main data that was included in the site: Paul Martin's agenda ("Where is Paul?" section), "Quote of the day" section, blog entries, and the "Stories" content. The visual layout of the Web site, however, is lost, due to the obsolescence of the programming language that was used (researchers can consult the Internet Archive Web site for that purpose). The MySQL original files were kept along the MS Access version for preservation purposes.
