Series consists of personal and professional records of Tamara Jeletzky, including correspondence, manuscripts, government-issued personal documents and photographs. The manuscripts are drafts of the book she edited, entitled "Russian Canadians: Their Past and Present." The series also includes records produced by the Chekhov Society, a Russian cultural organization in Ottawa, including the Society's newsletters, reports and publicity for cultural events.

Photographs in the series are of the Chekhov Society's activities, and of Tamara Jeletzky (in identification documents) and her family.

Jeletzky, T.F. (Tamara F.), 1917-1998 : Tamara Jeletzky was born in Ekaterinoslav, Russia in 1917, to Fedor and Olga Bohatirchuk. She studied medicine at the First Medical Institute in Kiev from 1935 to 1940, and graduated from the Faculty of Medicine as physician of internal diseases and radiology. From 1938 to 1942, Jeletzky was head of the x-ray department at the Central Ukrainian Institute of Orthopedics in Kiev. After being evacuated by the Germans, Jeletzky left Kiev for Krakow in October 1943, and went to Berlin in April 1944. From 1945 to 1948 she worked as a physician for outpatients and as an assistant to a radiologist in the x-ray department at the St. Georgen Hospital in Bayreuth, Germany. She immigrated to Canada in August 1948 with her husband, George Jeletzky, who was employed as a geologist at the Geological Survey of Canada. Tamara Jeletzky worked as a researcher at the Radiology Department of the University of Ottawa, and in cooperation with her father, Dr. F. Bohatirchuk, published a series of articles in the field of radiology.

Tamara Jeletzky was co-author and editor of "Russian Canadians: Their Past and Present", a book of essays on the history of the Russian community in Canada. From 1975 to 1985, she was actively involved in activities of the Chekhov Society, a Russian cultural organization in Ottawa.

Tamara married George Jeletzky on 23 June 1941, and together they had four children. She died on 9 January 1998 in Ottawa.
