Recherche dans la collection - A sketch of St. Johns Harbour and part of the River with the islands, shoals & soundings [cartographic material]

The map shows a stretch of the river 60 miles from its mouth. Though the map is not signed by Charles Morris, elements of the map, particularly the cartouche design, point to his drawing the map. Other features such as place names (many are French) and hill shading, not found on other of Morris' maps of this period, suggest that the map is not based on original survey work by Morris but that he has copied some other map, most probably a French map. As Morris was in command of the post at the mouth of the St. John in 1758, the map has been dated circa 1759.
