Sullivan was born in Kingston in 1882, working as a draughtsman and architect in Ottawa until 1920. From l911 to 1918 he worked periodically with Frank Lloyd Wright, and in 1929 died while working on a Wright project in Arizona. For further biographical information see the M.A. thesis by Martin Birkhans, Toronto, 1964 entitled the Life & Work of Francis C. Sullivan, architect, 1882-1929 (Mic F TC-27271).
The Acacia Street property was acquired by Mr. W.W. Moore in 1905, and the house built in approximately 1907. The original roof design was rejected in favour of the second, which was attached over the plans.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Sullivan, Francis C. Horwood, From 1908 to 1911, he worked in the Department of Public Works. He was an outspoken critic of Ottawa's architecture, and was strongly influenced by the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. From 1911 to 1918 he periodically worked with Wright returning to Ottawa from time to time. in 1929, he died while working on a Wright project in Arizona.Information additionnelle :Historique de la conservation :The plans were donated in June 1979 by Mrs. Margo (R.D.)
