Design (77.0 x 66.0 mm) is executed in blue ink and framed by a faux-perforated edge, hand-drawn onto work ; this design is one of three sets of sketches, being one of a theme of "Mother and Child" in two versions, (information found in Canada Post fonds) ; image depicts stylized portrait of Virgin Mary and Christ child ; a version of this design was originally accepted but then later rejected as the chosen design ; glue residue found on the verso of this work is visible on recto, showing through the thin paper support ; Typography : 5 cents.
