The series consists of documents relating to : Dr. Shirley L. Thomson's appointments and appraisals, administrative and management matters, controversial exhibits, collections and exhibitions. Also included are conservator's acquisition reports; travel reports; reading and reference material; notes, drafts, and printed official reports relating to the National Gallery of Canada; press clippings and interviews of Dr. Thomson; and articles and notes on artists and various subjects relating to museums and arts in Canada. The series contains photographs mainly of Dr. Shirley L. Thomson with Daniel Johnson, Pierre Théberge, Rosaline Pepall, the Moroccan ambassador in Ottawa, Brian and Mila Mulroney, Mikhail and Raisa Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, Prince Charles, Yusuf Karsh, Jean and Aline Chrétien, John Manley as well as the ambassadors of Chile, Israel and other dignitaries.
