National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy

Audio recording of the first day of a plenary session of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE), from February 16-17, 1998, at the Château Laurier, Ottawa. This session takes the form of a National Forum on Climate Change, in which members of the Order of Canada draft a declaration. Representatives discuss the challenges of the Kyoto Protocol, the cost of emissions reduction and renewable energy programs, the impact of greenhouse gases, and ways to inform Canadians about climate change. Recording features presentations by the Honourable Christine Stewart (Minister of the Environment), the Honourable Ralph Goodale (Minister of Natural Resources), Dr. Jim Bruce, and Roger Street (Director, Environmental Adaptation Research Group).
