One ordinary afternoon, Andy, a neurotic, compulsive young gambler, is kidnapped off the street by Reuban, a composed but intimidating middle-aged man. Reuben calmly notifies Andy that he has been ordered to assassinate him, but that, before he does that, he wants to be a "nice guy" - he will give Andy one hour to do anything he might want or need to do before he expires. At the start, Andy does not believe him, but, soon enough, he realizes that Reuban did not pluck him off the street to play games. Suddenly, every second of Andy's time in this world seems more precious.
