FLAT! is a television series for children based on a visual style created by Anne-Caroline Pandolfo and Isabelle Simler. It features a live-action teenager, Vincent, who gets sucked down by a magical magazine named Flatmania. Vincent is transported through a vortex into a whimsically metamorphic world of flatness where he himself turns into a two-dimensional paper-thin animated character. With the help of Kyu, a paper-flat teen wishing to discover the human third dimension, Vincent goes through many exciting adventures as he struggles to return to the real world. During each episode, Vincent and Kyu reach new magazines and must find a rift that will transfer them to the next magazine. In the first story of this episode, Vincent and Kyu fall into a sappy photo-story inside a romance magazine. They have to help a young woman by the name of Kate thwart the plans of the evil Patrick, who possesses the red book that could ruin Kate's romantic relationship with the wealthy and handsome Kevin. In the second story, Vincent and Kyu arrive in a detective magazine. A black and white investigative inspector, a film noir-like hard-boiled detective character à la Humphrey Bogart, confronts the duo in the case of a disappeared poodle. The stolen dog belonged to a well-known movie star. Vincent and Kyu escape and are chased by the inspector who recognizes Vincent - in the real world, the as boy has really vanished and the police are searching for him. <24mn 15s>
