The earliest material in the series includes Roo Borson's drafts and notes from Goddard College and the series also contains student work by the two poets while at UBC.
The series consists mainly of: drafts, typescripts proofs and editorial and production correspondence for the works of poetry authored by the two: The Country of the Mapmakers (Maltman, 1977), In the Smoky Light of the Fields (Borson, 1980), Rain (Borson, 1980), A Sad Device (Borson, 1981), The Sicknesses of Hats (Maltman, 1982), Branch Lines (Maltman, 1982), The Whole Night, Coming Home (Borson, 1984), The Transparence of November/Snow (Borson & Maltman,1985), Softened Violence (Maltman, 1984), Intent, or the Weight of the World (Borson, 1989), Technologies/Installations (Maltman, 1990), Water Memory (Borson, 1996), and Short Journey Upriver Toward Oishida (Borson, 2004). Included as well are prose poems, drafts of essays and short fiction, jottings, notes and draft fragments, files on submissions to venues for publication and a few clippings and programmes kept as memorabilia.

The drafts show that two began editing and annotating one another's work in the early phase when they met and began living together. Maltman tends to substitute ironic and playful titles (like "Socks With Vinyl Tips" for "Softened Violence") to amuse himself and Roo.

Borson and Maltman met fellow poets Jan Zwicky and Don McKay in 1986, and later drafts have notes from Zwicky and McKay. The poets were in the practice of reusing paper and therefore the versos provide alternate drafts of some work as well as ephemeral material related to their interests: the presence of these situates the current project with what had occurred before. Additionally, some early material did not survive because Kim burnt a group of his early drafts ca. 1976.
