This may be a portrayal of Heart's Content Bay or Placentia Bay., Item consists of an unidentified landscape. The watercolour sketch is on folio 22, p. 43. There are rolling hills in the background and what appears to be a small fishing village. Telegraph poles are distinguishable behind three houses in the mid ground. The two trans atlantic cables landed in Heart's Content Bay. They went over land to St. John's, Great Placientia, and along the northern shore of Cape Ray.

Biographie/Histoire administrative :

Rennie, William F : William F. Rennie was an amateur artist who, in 1862, was listed as secretary of St. John's Gas Light Company. In 1871, he was listed as also being Usher of the Black Rod, Legislative Council, and lived on Rennie's Mill Road. He notably created sketches for the May 6, 1871 issue of the Canadian Illustrated News, to which he contributed 2 artworks, of Cape Spear, and of Conception Bay. He also executed an album of sketches for Lady Glover in 1882.
