Interview with James Wing, retired electronic technician with the Canadian Marconi Company and Chinese Canadian who came to Canada in 1923. Subjects discussed include: Wing’s arrival to Victoria, British Columbia at ten years of age where he remained in a detention centre until his head tax was paid; living alone with his father in a single room in Montréal, Québec; obtaining his Canadian citizenship 28 years after his arrival to Canada; his father’s work in Canada as a restaurant owner; discriminization against the Chinese culture, language and colour; cultural differences; his treatment by school mates; making a living in Chinese laundries; the loneliness of Chinese men in Canada living without their families; his return to China in the early 1930's to marry; treatment of Chinese Canadians following WWII; and the Canadian government’s failure to settle the redress issue. <35mn>
