SLINGS AND ARROWS II is a one-hour format drama that follows the workings of a major theatre festival in southern Ontario. Directed by Peter Wellington, the series chronicles the backstage misadventures of Geoffrey Tennant, now firmly installed as Artistic Director of the New Burbage Theatre Festival, where he deals with eccentrics of all kinds and where he struggles with problems passed on by his late friend and colleague, Oliver Welles. Now labouring under the shadow of his celebrated predecessor, Geoffrey has to take on Macbeth, Shakespeare's well-known cursed play, which Oliver had obsessively researched for years. In this episode, Christmas comes to New Burbage. The interns who form part of Richard's new austerity program at the Festival arrive. Geoffrey moves in with Ellen who tries hard to reach domestic bliss, while he is completely preoccupied with work. Richard, after a long and exhausting begging session, somehow succeeds to get government money for rebranding the Festival. Geoffrey rejects the newly found notes on Macbeth, but then changes his mind. Finally, he contends with the ego of Henry Breedlove, the veteran actor recommended by Oliver as Macbeth. This seems to be Oliver's cue to rise from the dead, an occurrence which greatly upsets Geoffrey. <46mn 25s>
