Included subjects are proud Canadians of Irish descent, values of tolerance regardless of religion, language or culture, friendship between both countries, the previous visits from Irish leaders to Canada, the Rideau Canal construction by Irish workers, and the role of Canada in peacekeeping and democracy. Bruton quotes a poem written by Irish-born Canadian politician and writer Thomas D’Arcy McGee, entitled «Peace Has Its Victory No Less Than War».
