DA VINCI'S INQUEST is a one hour dramatic production combining three genres: the police procedural, the medical thriller and the courtroom drama. The show centers around the cases dealt with by the Vancouver Coroner's Office and its senior coroner Dominic Da Vinci. In this episode Da Vinci is called to the city's port authority when they find a trunk containing a dead woman. The circumstances suggest she had willingly got in the trunk, equipped with oxygen and supplies, before shipping herself from Portland. The Chief Coroner intervenes and suggests that due to the evidence which suggests she most likely died in the U.S. they should ship the body to the Portland coroner. Da Vinci however would like to complete the delivery in order to determine its true destination. Another box is discovered by the customs office and the coroner's office has another body to deal with. A hunch and a DNA tests reveals that the pair are brother and sister, and Da Vinci begins to suspect that address they where destined for has more significance than earlier imagined. He returns to the elderly man's house and suggests that perhaps these could be his children from a relationship he had while working oil rigs in Latin America. Shannon and Leary are called in to deal with a victim who has been burned alive in his car. They trace the victim to a pool hall where they discover the wife of the pool hall owner was having an affair with the deceased. The wife is concerned about the affair being found out, and gives the detectives as much help as possible. As surprising as the details are it appears that the victim burned himself alive. <45mn 20s>
