The fonds consists of records produced by Deborah and George Cowley to write the book entitled "One Woman's Journey: A Portrait of Pauline Vanier" published several times by Novalis Press between 1992 and 2000. The textual records contain mainly correspondence, notes, genealogy notes, research notes, transcripts of interviews, transcripts of Georges P. Vanier's letters, texts written by T.L. Tremblay on the First World War and by Colonel Strome Galloway (never published) and some press clippings on Georges P. Vanier's exploits (photocopies). The graphic material consists of photographs and figures used to publish the book. The audiocassettes were recorded during the 1990s in order to write the book and also for other projects. They consist of conversations with people of the Arche in Ottawa and Trosly (France) and also with Benedict and Thérèse Vanier, the son and the daughter of Pauline and Georges Vanier. One audiocassette was produced during Pauline Vanier's funeral on March 25, 1991. It includes accounts of friends who knew Pauline and Georges P. Vanier and accounts from several religious communities.

The fonds also contains a biographical sketch, background material, transcripts of interviews, and seven sound recordings of interviews related to the career of Lewis Perinbam, gathered for an as yet unpublished book.

Cowley, Deborah, 1937- : Deborah Cowley (1937-) was educated in Public Schools in Toronto from 1942 to 1953, at the Jarvis Collegiate Institute from 1953 to 1954 and at the University of Western Ontario, London, (Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology) from 1955 to 1958. She is an Ottawa-based writer and broadcaster who has traveled the world while writing over 100 articles for Canadian, British and international editions of Reader's Digest, Christian Science Monitor, 50 Plus and Canadian Living magazines involving research in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Canada. She wrote travel articles for Sabena, KLM and Air Canada in-flight magazines, the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, Montreal Gazette and various other magazines. She was a TV scriptwriter doing research and scripts for five television documentaries filmed in Egypt for CBC's Man Live. She prepared over 50 documentaries for CBC Radio. She is the author of "Cairo: A Practical Guide" published between 1975 and 1988 by American University in Cairo Press and by the Canadian National Institute for Blind, co-author (with George Cowley) of "One Woman's Journey: A Portrait of Pauline Vanier" published by Novalis Press between 1992 and year 2000, author of "Georges Vanier : Soldier. The Wartime Letters and Diaries" published by Dundurn Press in 2000 and author of "Lucille Teasdale : Doctor of Courage" published by XYZ Publishers in 2005. Deborah Cowley has been involved in many other activities, such as a volunteer supporter of the Osu Children's Library Fund, a Canadian NGO building libraries in Ghana and elsewhere in West Africa.
