This series consists of drafts, manuscripts and associated materials for all fiction and non-fiction works created by Jock Carroll.

Beginning in 1938, Carroll began sending short stories to popular magazines and his work was soon accepted in both American and Canadian publications. Carroll continued to write throughout his entire life. His fiction works were sometimes based upon his life's experiences (such as "The Shy Photographer," a satire on the life of a photographer).

Carroll was recognized for his ability to produce well-researched non-fiction books such as "The Death of the Toronto Telegram" (1971). Carroll had worked for the Telegram less than two years when the paper was folded by its owner John Bassett yet Carroll's book was full of anecdotes from both the Bassett family and the paper's staff and was commended for providing an explanation for the demise of one of Toronto's (and Canada's) greatest English language newspapers.

This series also includes materials used in the production of "Falling for Marilyn" (1996) and "Glenn Gould: some portraits of the artist as a young man" (1995).
