The fonds includes general correspondence 1970-1983, relating to Nandor Dreisziger's work of researching and writing about the Hungarian experience in Europe and Canada; correspondence, reports, reviews and other documentation, 1972-1994, pertaining to "Struggle and Hope: the Hungarian Canadian Experience," as well as correspondence, reports and reviews, 1972-1994, documenting Nandor Dreisziger's participation in the "Hungarian Studies Review," a journal dedicated to making the Hungarian experience better known in the English-speaking world. Also included is documentation, 1937-2005, collected or photocopied by Nandor Dreisziger as part of his scholarly work on Hungarians in Canada and Europe.

Dreisziger, N.F. (Nandor F.), 1940- : Born in Hungary, Nandor Dreisziger came to Canada with his parents in 1956. He graduated from the University of Toronto with a Ph.D. in Canadian history and a graduate diploma in Russian and East European Studies. From 1966 to 1967, he worked as Historical Researcher with the Public Archives of Canada, and in 1970 joined the faculty of the Royal Military College, Kingston, where he taught a variety of Canadian and European history courses. He was principal author of "Struggle and Hope: the Hungarian-Canadian Experience" (McClelland and Stewart, 1982), and editor of such volumes as "Mobilization for Total War," "Ethnic Armies" (Wilfrid Laurier University Press, 1981 and 1990), and "Hungary in the Age of Total War, 1938-1948" (Columbia Univeristy Press/East European monographs, 1998). His articles appeared in leading academic journals in Canada, the United States, Hungary, the United Kingdom and elsehwere. He served as President of the American Assocation for the Study of Hungarian History and of the Hungarian Studies Assocation of Canada. He is the founding editor of the "Canadia-American Review of Hungarian Studies," which in 1981 was renamed the "Hungarian Studies Review." In 1993, Professor Dreisziger received the Officer's Cross of the Republic of Hungary for his scholarly work on Hungary and the Hungarian diaspora.
