Using her own money, Mabel funded an association called the Aerial Experiment Association (AEA) headed by her husband, Alexander Graham Bell in 1907. The organization was given a year to accomplish history. Scientific America was offering a trophy and prestige to the first manned flight of atleast one kilometre. With the Wright brothers developing their planes in secret, the AEA was determined to succeed. To this end they produced four prototype planes, the last of which accomplished Canada's first ever powered flight. The efforts of the AEA have often been overlooked, but some of their patents form the basis of airplane design to this day. The Wright brothers unveiled their creation to the military and made a momentous public flight, cemeting them in the history books, yet Mabel Bell's vision was a significant contribution to the history of flight which must be remembered. <46mn 45s>Langue :EnglishRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
