1 audio reel.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :The series comprises records relating to speeches and lectures given by June Callwood, including speaking notes, correspondence, memoranda, audio recordings, and clippings of newspaper coverage of her speaking engagements. Her subject matter generally covered education, women's rights, children's issues, morality, AIDS, drug addiction, volunteerism, mental health, civil liberties, and other areas of her expertise and committed involvement. She spoke to audiences like the Ontario Catholic High School Teachers, Alberta Teachers Association, Canadian Guidance and Counselling Association, London Canadian Club, Vancouver Children's Aid Society, National Council of Jewish Women, Probation Officers Association, United Way Inter-Faith Luncheon, International Congress on AIDS, and American Psychiatric Association. There are also texts of her public addresses on receipt of honourary degrees and awards like the Human Relations Award of the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews in 1978, and memorial lectures in honour of Dalton Camp, Margaret Laurence, and Ruth Cooperstock.
The series includes sound recordings of two speeches she made to the Refounding Conference of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Toronto, June 1990, one on altruism and a village or community approach to social problems, and another on AIDS and Casey House Hospice, in which she also responds to questions from the audience.
