This two part drama is based on the events of December 6, 1917, when the biggest pre-atomic bomb explosion in history occurred in the Halifax, Nova Scotia harbour. During the First World War, Halifax was the epicentre of the massive movement of men and munitions. At 9:05 a.m. on December 6, 1917, a French munitions carrier collided with a Belgian relief ship and caught fire. SHATTERED CITY tells the story of how this tragic incident became a metaphor for the war and how the people of Halifax triumphed over this disaster. <177mn 17s>
