This carte-de-visite album consists of 50 folios into which 50 carte-de-visites were inserted, but of which 3 are missing. The owner of the album remains a mystery, but it was likely a member of the family of John and Isabella MacGillivray. The majority of the portraits are of the MacGillivrays, but there are also portraits of family friends and acquaintances.
This is volume 1 of this accession. The album is bound with hard leather with two metal clasps.

While the owner of the album is unknown, it is likely that this belonged to one of the MacGillivray family as the majority of the identified portraits are of family descendants of John and Isabella MacGillivrary.
