Sound recordings of the first day of the sessions of the Sixth Biennial General Assembly of the International Federartion of Television Archives (IFTA/FIAT) held in conjunction with the Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of Canadian Radio and Television, from September 29 to October 4, 1986. The subjects of the presentations are as follows: opening remarks; the working schedule and projects of the FIAT/IFTA Technical Commission; the conservation and restoration of TV programs (a paper prepared by Douglas Parsons of the BBC); UNESCO and the conservation of moving images; the work of RTVE, Spain, in the restoration and conservation of television programs; videodisc and optical disc applications in audiovisual archives; and long-term conservation and restoration of television recordings.
