Recording consists of original sound rolls used in the production of the documentary film THE LEARNING PATH. Recording begins with an interview of John [Jap], a Ben Calf Robe School grade eight student and host of Ben Calf Robe School's radio program SPCR. He speaks of the establishment of SPCR, musical interests of Ben Calf Robe students, his opinion of the school, differences between Ben Calf Robe and other schools he has attended, Ben Calf Robe academics, and the school's focus on Native culture.~Interview follows with an excerpt of a Cree lesson in progress at Ben Calf Robe School. Follows with recording of excerpts from a computer class, math class, and history class in progress at Ben Calf Robe School. Follows with a recording of excerpts from several interviews with Ben Calf Robe adult students who speak of the differences between Ben Calf Robe and other schools, reasons why they quit school, returning to school, and their experiences at Ben Calf Robe.~Interview with adult students is followed by an interview with Angeline Walters, grade eight student at Ben Calf Robe School, who speaks of the differences between Ben Calf Robe and other schools, her experiences at Ben Calf Robe, Dr. Anne Anderson, and how Ben Calf Robe helps students learn about their Native culture. <1h 7mn>

THE LEARNING PATH is one of a five-part documentary series entitled AS LONG AS THE RIVERS FLOW.~4. Segments of the recording contain "wild" noise interspersed with the interviews.~5. Interview with Angeline Walters, sound reel 50, marks end of recording at Ben Calf Robe School, 16 January 1991. Follows with recording of a talk by Eva Cardinal at Lorelei School, 17 January 1991.
