Using the medium of graphics and photography only, this documentary provides a record of the important role played by the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals, in the visit of His Excellency, Lord Byng of Vimy to the Arctic in 1925, from Fort Smith, territorial headquarters to Aklavik at the mouth of the Mackenzie River. The North West Territories Radio System, just opened by the Corps for service, provided the communication for the voyage. Scenes include: Fort Smith, Fort Smith Landing; Inspector Fraser, Inspector Fletcher, Major P.K. Hodgson, Captain and Mrs. C.A. Gardner, Sergeant Loverock, RCCS Radio Operator; O.S. Finnie, Director, North West Territories Branch; typical northern settlement - Fort Resolution; RCCS Radio Station; Indian (First Nations) chiefs at Resolution for Treaty payment; Catholic Mission; trapper with large grey wolf pelt; Hay River and Hay River Landing; Indian (First Nations) children at Hay River Mission; plowing with dog team at Mission; Fort Providence Catholic Mission and Cadet Corps; Fort Simpson with RCMP barracks, two missions, HBC buildings and potato field; Corporal Jardine and Lieutenant R.A.H. Galbraith at Simpson; Indian (First Nations) school on parade for His Excellency; Indian (First Nations) camp and group of Indian (First Nations) women in costume; Dr. Broomfield, American, at his camp; arrival at Wrigley; Fort Norman, Great Bear Rock and mouth of Great Bear River; Indians (First Nations) camped along the river, awaiting His Excellency; priests at door of mission / post office; regal party approaching Indian (First Nations) camp; Norman Wells; witnessing blow-off; Mackenzie Palisades; Fort Good Hope - RCMP headquarters and Catholic Mission; George McCullogh, steward; Indian (First Nations) chief outside cabin; re-fuelling operations; Aklavik - Mission, Hudson's Bay Company, radio station, Anglican Mission, and residential area; Lieutenant H.A. Young, RCCS officer at Aklavik; Sergeant J.C. Pearson, Sergeant-Major E.H. Kerr; dog teams in summer; Eskimo (Inuit) boats on beach; Eskimo chief (Inuk) and family; return trip - Fort Smith; His Excellency opens new RCCS Station at Fort Smith; return to Edmonton via Fort Fitzgerald and Fort McMurray. <22mn 46s>
