A short film produced for the American audience to give it a greater understanding of Canada, beyond the standard notions of wide open spaces and "Mounties" on horseback and to encourage Americans to travel north. The film follows two travellers, an American played by Walter Abel and a Canadian played by Ralph Forbes travelling to Canada for a fishing vacation. Upon reaching the border crossing the American discovers that the Canadian is subject to different entry rules than he is. The film then goes on to explain how there are certain limitations regarding what goods Canadians are allowed to import into the country and why there are such restrictions. Through a series of animated scenes the viewer is informed about how Canada was able to acquire American dollars through trade with European countries, but things drastically changed after the Second World War, when reconstructing European countries paid for Canadian goods with IOUs and not American currency. This prompted the Canadian government to take action to control the outflowing of Canadian funds for the purchasing of American consumer goods. The film explains the similarities between Canadians and Americans and how Canada is a country that is rich in resources and skilled workers. Film features segments of Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent speaking with the United States Ambassador Ray Atherton, Finance Minister Douglas Abbott speaking on the radio and U.S. President Harry Truman signing a document with others looking on. <13mn 11s>

This was the first film produced with the assistance of the Canadian Cooperation Project in an attempt to deal with the trade imbalance between Canada and the United States during the post-war era.~2.
