News items on the following:~Ferry Pilots. Footage of: a Lockheed Hudson landing and taxiiing; a Consolidated B-24 Liberator landing; ferry pilots arriving by aircraft; a row of Hudsons on a field; pilots boarding the Hudsons and the Liberator; and air to air views of the two planes.~Aerial Pick-Up Experiment. A medium-sized civilian aircraft is shown swooping low, hooking a line attaching it to another light plane and dragging the light plane into the air. The experiment is shown a couple of times.~A Gran Bombardero Lancaster Se Fabrica Ahora en el Canada = Mighty Lancaster Bomber Now Being Built by Canada. Movietone News footage on activities in an aircraft plant in Malton, Ontario as a Lancaster is being built and then towed out of the hangar. The nose of the plane and the bomb bay are shown. Mrs. Charles Power is shown holding a lanyard and a bottle is shown breaking on the nose of the plane as the Ruhr Express is christened. The crew is seen lined up underneath the nose of the aircraft. Squadron Leader Lane from Victoria, British Columbia is seen standing by a huge wheel on which sits Bambi, the dog mascot. The Lancaster is seen overflying at low altitude.~Allied Pilots in Training. Two airmen are shown displaying a flag bearing the letter "E" and the RCAF roundel. A flag flying with the RCAF ensign is shown. Student pilots from Allied countries are shown looking over Fairchild Cornells, studying maps, etc. The Cornells are shown taxiing, taking off, and flying in formation.~Bridge Dedication. Shown is an unidentified cantilever bridge. A platoon of RCMP are seen riding across it. Dignitaries officiate at the opening (a CBC microphone is well in evidence). After the opening, the crowd crosses the bridge. Seen is the harbour area, a file of tugboats, and the RCMP riding past.~Cenotaph Dedication. Two ministers officiate at the dedication of a cenotaph as dignitaries hold the Union Jack and another flag. Shown is a concrete cross with an embedded broadsword. A piper skirls a lament, and wreaths are deposited as a military honour guard stands by.~The Duke of Windsor Visits. A RCAF honour guard are shown standing by on an airbase as the Duke of Windsor and his wife step out of a car and are greeted by miliary officers. Seen are the men in the honour guard, the inspection by the Duke of Windsor, and of medals being awarded as well as the final marchpast.~Recycling Military Uniforms. Shown is a large table covered with military uniforms in disrepair and women darning same. Seen is a CWAC displaying army pants with a hole in them and then repairing them. A poster is shown enjoining new recruits to keep uniforms clean to make them last longer. Seen is a pile of army boots, boots being repaired by shoemakers, and men and women putting the recycled boots on shelves.~Funeral. Seen is an unidentifed public building and a hearse with pallbearers and mourners following it. A coffin is carried from the hearse up stairs into the church. Mourners file into the church and emerge after the service.~A New Railroad Station for Montreal. Footage of the new Union Station on Montreal's Dorchester Boulevard. Seen is the official opening, a view of the interior, men at work at a railroad terminal console, and the interior of the main hall of the station.~Military Marchpast. Shown is a regiment on parade and dignitaries, including the Honourable James L. Ralston and General H.D.G. Crerar, on the reviewing stand. <10mn 25s>

1. PDC unclear, but this would seem to be a collection of news items rather than a newsreel.~2. Item 3 on the Lancaster bombers, is in Spanish. It was filmed by Associated Screen News (photography, Roy Tash; sound, Arnold Hague). It was originally 627 feet (7 minutes). This information comes from an ASN caption sheet film in the Fox News documentation file.~3. Items 5 and 6, the bridge dedication and the cenotaph dedication, have frame lines across the picture.~4. Item 7, the Duke of Windsor's visit, has bad problems with the image.~5. Actuality footage over 50 years - copyright expired.
