This film is about the British harvest of 1942 and the efforts made by British agriculture since 1939 to increase food production. Subjects include: the importance of getting more land into agricultural production; the Country War Agricultural Committee; demonstrations and seminars to teach new methods of farming; improving soil through scientific analysis; increasing the amount of mechanization through cooperation and sharing machinery; fields of grain in 1942; Land Girls harvesting; problems caused by the labour shortage; children, townspeople and soldiers helping out on farms, including U.S. soldiers; a children's camp; manual and mechanical harvesting; rick-building; ploughing; harrowing; cornfields; stacks; ricks; a Caterpillar tractor; seed drills and spreading fertilizer. <7mn>
