Film presented by the Vancouver Harbour Commissioners on the fire boat Orion, built and designed completely in Canada. Intertitles provide information about the fire boat's design and function and identify the personalities seen. Standing on the pier watching the Orion demonstrate its fire-fighting capabilities are President of the Harbour Board, S. McClay, and the Honourable H.H. Stevens, Minister of Trade and Commerce, who stands under an umbrella. They and a group of well turned-out gentlemen, look on as the fire boat arrives on the scene of a harbour fire and firemen assemble hoses, training jets of water on the 26-foot high pier building. A crew member unravels a hose. The crew stands in a line, holding the fire hoses. Men control the pumps on the boat. Shots are included of the water curtain which protects the Orion from catching fire itself. The film concludes with sequences showing H.H. Stevens boarding the liner Empress of India at Vancouver dock, en route to Honolulu to confer with the Honourable W. Downie Stewart of New Zealand about a trade treaty. Stevens gets out of a car, poses with his wife for the camera, with his wife boards the ship and talks with other men aboard ship. There are various shots of passengers waving goodbye to people. There is a shot from the dock showing a multitude of streamers. The final shot is a close-up of the ship Empress of India. <7mn>
