Amateur footage of the A.B.C. Throop family. It shows: A.B.C. "Burt" Throop holding his little daughter Josephine; Mrs. Burt Throop (Mary Margaret Robinson) holding Josephine; Josephine sitting on the grass and playing with a ball; A.B.C. Throop and Mary Margaret Throop seated on park bench; Josephine sitting on her mother's knee; medium close-up of Josephine sitting on bench; Mrs. Throop holding Josephine in her arms; Josephine playing with a ball on the lawn; A.B.C. 1. This footage was probably shot by George E. Patton, Director of the Ontario Motion Picture Bureau until its demise in 1934, and a friend of A.B.C. Throop.~2. A.B.C. Throop was the father of the little girl shown in the film.~3. The little girl in the film was the first wife of the donor of this film.~4. Footage is well-shot, with fades, dissolves and steady camera-work.~5. Rare example of amateur footage originally shot in 35mm and reduction-printed, probably at the Ontario Motion Picture Bureau, onto 28mm.~6. A.B.C. "Bert" Throop was a teacher in Renfrew, arriving there in 1924 as an agricultural specialist to teach at the Renfrew Collegiate Institute, where he later was principal.~7. For more information on Bert Throop see the book The Story of Renfrew by Heritage Renfrew, edited by Carol Bennett and published by Juniper Books in 1984.~8. Duration based on running speed of 18 fps.
