Register [of original document] addressed to the S.d.S. and titled "Information on the Abbeys Lestrées and Maubec and the current reputation in Paris of the bp. of Québec in New France" [answer to a request for information made on 3 Aug. and 5 Oct., 1678, see no. 390 and 392 by the S.d.S. with the receipt of the report acknowledged 22 Feb., 1679, see no. 393]. This is a detailed account of the condition of the two abbeys which includes information about their last abbots, the number of monks now dependent on them and the sources for and the size of their conventual and abbatial revenues. The report concludes with the statement that "the reputation of the bp. of Québec of New France could not be better". His general deportment is lauded and he is said to have devoted his entire life to the stabilization and expansion of the [Roman Catholic] faith in his diocese.
