Robert Gervais, assistant currator of the Canadian Arctic Producers, talks about the process of importing, sorting, pricing, shipping and marketing of Inuit art from the Arctic. He discusses the various types of Inuit art, such as soapstone and bone carving, duffel work, fur parkas, sealskin dolls, and mentions that artists, such as Pagnor from Eskimo Point, enjoy an international reputation.~Other interviews on the tape include: Dr. Charles Jonkel, a polar bear research scientist with the Canadian Wildlife service,, who describes the methods used to track, tranquilize, tag, and evaluate the threats to the polar bear's survival; Dr. Richard Kervis, an ornithologist with the Canadian Wildlife service, who explains the differences between the species of northern wild geese, their long-range migration patterns, their natural preditors and the ongoing banding programs; Don Miller, a range biologist with the Canadian Wildlife service,, who discusses the studies of the Manitoba-Keewatin caribou population, in particular, the adequacy of its winter forrage and the weather conditions affecting the feeding grounds; Chuck Dauphine, a biologist with the CWS, who discusses the ongoing studies of the reproductive potential of the nothern caribou herd and the mortality factors afftecting its survival and management.
