Mary Harker interviews actor Frank Perry. Perry discusses: his family background; marriage in 1951; education; joining St. John's Anglican Church choir; acting and singing parts in pantomimes at Hart House for Josephine Barrington; drama lessons from Barrington at 50 cents each; first radio programme - a live commercial for Ever Ready Batteries; playing Butch in the soap opera JOHN AND JUDY; radio show THE CHILDREN'S SCRAPBOOK; a year in the Air Force towards the end of war; playing a semi-running part on the soap opera SOLDIER'S WIFE; graduated from high school in 1943; after the war worked as full-time actor; acting with New Play Society; being an original member of Peterborough Summer Theatre in late forties; live TV in the early fifties; six-week tour with the pre-Centennial play by Tommy Tweed in 1966; playing serious singing and comic roles in various industrial shows; amusing incidents while working with Ruth Springford; juvenile role in his first feature film called BUSH PILOT in 1946; why Americans come to Canada to shoot movies; work in several series, including the very early TV series SUNSHINE SKETCHES and the later QUENTIN DURGEN, M.P.; appearances on many of CBC-TV's running series; nominations for two awards; an ACTRA Award for his part in THE ACCIDENT; the Andrew Allen Award for Radio in 1983 for his performance as Father Leguard in THE CANADIANS; and his relationship with the CBC over the years. <49mn>
