Lorraine Thomson interviews Jackie Rae, child performer, radio producer and host of the CBC television series THE JACKIE RAE SHOW. Rae discusses: touring on the Famous Players' vaudeville circuit with his siblings Saul and Grace as the Three Raes of Sunshine; casting acts for a weekly talent show at the Lansdowne Theatre in Toronto; his World War II experiences as a Spitfire fighter pilot and winning the Distinguished Flying Cross; bringing home an English war bride; being hired by Ernie Bushnell as a junior radio producer at the CBC; Harry Boyle, head of the trans-Canada network for CBC; producing THE WAYNE AND SHUSTER SHOW for nine years and going to Korea with them to entertain the troops; doing radio programs with Giselle [MacKenzie] and Howard Cable; becoming the National Head of Variety for Radio and Television for CBC in 1951; hosting the television series THE JACKIE RAE SHOW; moving to England to host a show of the same name for Granada Television; touring European music halls with a small band; returning to Canada in 1976 to work at Standard Broadcasting building the Canadian Talent Library; assembling the Spitfire Band to tour and record big band music; his second wife [Patricia Anne] who is the sister of actor Don Harron; and his nephew Bob Rae, leader of the Ontario New Democratic Party.
