National Harbour Board

Film with intertitles and musical sound track on the visit of the Governor General, the Earl of Bessborough and the Countess of Bessborough to the Britannia Mines, north of Vancouver, 8 September 1932. Footage includes the arrival of their Excellencies aboard RVYC "Vencedor", a steam yacht owned by Commodore E.W. Hambers. Commodore Hambers, Mrs. Hambers, and members of the Vancouver Harbour Commission including President of the Harbour Board, S. McClay, J.B. Thomson and R.D. Williams are on the pier to greet them; the Britannia Mine band plays and children wave their flags. Arriving at the mine in a 1932 Packard, the Governor General is greeted by the Mine Manager, C.P. Browning. Sequences of their Excellencies, dressed in overalls, inspecting the concentrator and machine shops at the mine follow. The film concludes with the "Vencedor" steaming up harbour, mountains in the background, and a good shot of the crew posing along the ship's railings for the camera. <3mn>
