This political satirical print concerns the events of the day and shows seven men in a tavern gathered to discuss the Nootka Convention of 1790 which sought to settle certain contentious trading and territorial issues between Spain and Britain. Four men are seated at a table, one with the Gazetteer before him, has a paper marked Revolution Society stuck in his pocket. Opposite him, a man with the Times has a paper marked Pension in his pocket. A naval officer is beside him, wearing an expression of disgust. A military officer reads with bemusement a paper headed Guards Remanded. A man with his back to the fire and a disgruntled look on his face has a paper marked Contract in his pocket. Another man points to a map of Nootka Sound on a map of the Pacific Ocean while in his hand is the Gazette., On the wall are broadsides, one with an inscription All who are willing / to Contract. Another states 'Bounty Discontinued'. A broadside bearing the portrait of William Pitt is shown with the face torn away. On the floor a dog urinates on a paper marked Convention.
